Transcript: A Worn Path was published in 1941 in a book with a series of short stories called A Curtain of Green. These short stories reflected the lives of people who lived in Mississippi. by Aaron Hill The short story A Worn Path written by Eudora Welty, is about a old woman named Phoenix Jackson, who lives in the country and has to travel through the woods to buy her grandson the medicine he needs. "A Worn Path" Presentation Works Cited Phoenix Jackson is the main character of the story. She owns the qualities of determination, kindness, respectability. Determination: Traveling through the woods. Traveling up a hill, attacked by a dog. Kindness: Buying her grandson a toy. Its December Respectability: Man scaring away the dog. Woman on the street tying her shoe for her. Historical Connection Character Analysis Literary Terms Cultural Context: The story takes place in Mississippi. Gives off a southern type of feel Third Person: The narrator gives the perspectives and details of Phoenix's journey.
