The Japanese auto industry pioneer was created in 1937. The company’s name originated from the family name of its founder, Kiichiro Toyoda. Kiichiro Toyoda had traveled to Europe and the United States in 1929 to investigate automobile production and had begun researching gasoline-powered engines in 1930. Toyoda Automatic Loom Works was encouraged to develop automobile production by the Japanese government, which needed domestic vehicle production, due to the war with China. During WWII Toyota was mainly foucus on trucks and after the war they faced econmic issues. But during the Korean War the U.S. milltary ordered over 5,000 trucks, this brought Toyota out from the brink bankruptcy. From the ideas of Sakichi Toyoda, his son Kiichiro Toyoda was able to his father's idea to create a company that will change the face of the automotive industry.
