"The death penalty is a punishment that fits the crime of murder; it is neither ‘cruel' nor ‘unusual.' Executing a murderer is the appropriate punishment for taking an innocent life" (http://www.studentnewsdaily.com/conservative-vs-liberal-beliefs/). Here I would summarize my position on the topic. Are you more in agreement with the liberal or conservative position? Why? Reason 3 & Supporting Evidence: Killing an innocent person Video two: Death Penalty Debate http://www.buzzle.com/articles/reasons-against-capital-punishment-death-penalty.html Video from youtube Title: The Death Penalty Debate Posted by: THNKR Time: 4:51 Reason 2 & Supporting Evidence: Provide a video that helps to make the liberal side of the argument against the death penalty. Include some quotes from the video in your summary. Be sure to include in text citation of where you got the video. Here I would summarize the liberal position on the topic. According to the liberal view, "the death penalty should be abolished. It is inhumane and is ‘cruel and unusual' punishment. Imprisonment is the appropriate punishment for murder. Every execution risks killing an innocent person" (http://www.studentnewsdaily.com/conservative-vs-liberal-beliefs/). Here I would define the issue (I.e. What is death penalty? What is the debate about?). Give some background on the debate (history). State where policies stand at this time (current laws). http://www.worldcoalition.org/ Kelli Rodriguez Video one: World Day Against Death Penalty My View Explain the significant/relevancy of the website, quote, ted talk, image, etc. Provide a summary. Transcript: President Ronald Reagan Involuntary Abortion Debate Liberal's view: Pro-Choice Video from youtube. Title: A Person's A Person No Matter How Small Posted by: Kelly Daza Time: 0:30 In 1973 Jane Roe, a pregnant mother wished to obtain an abortion. She sued on behalf of all women in similar situations in effort to prevent the enforcement of Texas laws criminalizing all abortions except in the case to save the life of a mother. Texas courts ruled ruled the law unconstitutional, Wade appealed to the Supreme Court. "...the Court argued that prenatal life was not within the definition of "persons" as used and protected in the U.S. Constitution and that America's criminal and civil laws only sometimes regard fetuses as persons deserving protection." "We treat children as property and devalue life itself" " A survey was conducted of 1900 women who had had abortions. The survey asked "Were there any negative psychological effects... [caused] by your abortion?" 94% answered "Yes." 2% answered "No."" The chance of depression increases when one has an abortion With the physiological effects, and different views there is more conflict between families http://www.pinterest.com/pin/399201954440488060/ Lia is standing on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. She is a young girl who is standing in front of a crowd telling Parliament and a sea of people telling people the facts about abortion, and the scientific reasoning that states why abortions are wrong "I Million Abortions happen in the US" Video from youtube. Title: I Regret My Abortion-- "The Experience" Posted by: Miranda Estrada Time: 12:27 Not including college a child born in 2012 will cost it's parent(s) approximately $241,040 until the age of 18 Some people simply cannot afford a child This video is Miranda's experience with her abortion and how now, after doing an abortion how she feels, and how she cannot communicate with people. You can tell throughout the video that her emotions are starting to show. "I always imagine what it could have been" "The new human zygote has a genetic composition that is absolutely unique from itself, different from any other human that has ever existed, including that of its mother (thus disproving the claim that what is involved in abortion is merely "a woman and her body").[5]" When I first started this project I was pro-choice by 200%. I thought that when a baby takes it's first breath outside the womb it then clarified as a person. That was my own personal argument. I didn't applaud abortion at all though. If you got pregnant, it was your own fault. Go to a local drug store and get a condom, they give them out for free. When I thought an abortion was okay is when a women gets raped and gets pregnant. It wasn't her choice to engage in sexual activity. After thoroughly researching this topic I have changed my view completely I think... When looking at imaged of little babies, tiny little babies being ripped apart by an abortion my heart ached. If the operation was more humane maybe I would still be Pro-Choice, but when researching I could remember when my 8th grade Math teacher had a miscarriage and how devastated she was, and now after researching and finding that 21% of people have an abortion because the baby is going to be incontinent to them it enrages me. It's the woman's own fault for becoming pregnant, own up to it and face the facts, there is always adoption for couples who do not have the gift of welcoming their own child to the world. I am a feminist, and totally for Woman Power, but I think now abortions are being used as the easy way out of a mistake of a young teenage girl. So, as Doctor Suess said in Horton Hears A Hoo.... Reason 3 & Supporting Evidence: Financial Strain Video two: In-Clinic Abortion Procedure http://www.buzzle.com/articles/reasons-against-capital-punishment-death-penalty.html Planned Parenthood states in the information bar "Women sometimes make a hard choice because they care about their family or their future family". This video lets the us take a look in how safe abortion clinics are. Planned Parenthood helps young women who have decided to get an abortion. In 2010 Bei Bei Shuai was pregnant and alone. She swallowed rat poison trying to commit suicide. Instead of killing herself, she killed her unborn child. Shaui did not get sent to a mental clinic, she was charged with murder of the 8 week old fetus. In 2013 she pleated guilty to criminal recklessness after spending more then a year in jail. Video from youtube Title: In-Clinic Abortion Procedure-- Planned Parenthood Posted by: Planned Parenthood Health Time: 4:13 Reason 2 & Supporting Evidence: "A Person is a Person, No Matter How Small" Reason 1 & Supportive Evidence: A Fetus is Not and Individual and has no Rights Video from youtube. Title: Dianna Agron at NARAL Pro-Choice America event Posted by: NARAL Pro-Choice America Time: 9:19 "A fetus is not a human life, so it does not have separate individual rights."
