Transcript: School Security and Safety Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting Security cameras can be enabled in order for the faculty can see who is nearby the school, inside and out. Considering placing a law intact that states that security has to stay in school on a daily basis is an excellent resource to minimize the amount of school shootings. By increasing the broad amount of security that the nation and even the world has in schools today, the well-being of the students would stay positive so that they can receive a proper education. Extra Prevention of In-School Tragedy Continued Security in school gives students, teachers, and administration a sense of safety. Safety and security are needed for a proper education. Without safety in school, students would not be able to focus. Non-safety in school can cause harm to students and faculty, both physically and mentally. On the 14th of December in 2012, a gunman broke into a school in Newtown, Connecticut. He killed 20 children and 6 teachers, includig the principal. Noted as Adam Lanza, he killed himself afterward (New York Post). When a school has security guards inside of it, prevention is at it's best because the security could easily stop a situation before it becomes tragic. Why is Security in School Useful? Extra Prevention of In-School Tragedy Continued Cause: Security... Effect: Prevention Students should wear ID's at all times to distinguish them from intruders. Frequent drills should take place in order to teach students what to do in case an intruder breaks into the school. Security guards should stay on school premises at all times in order to take preventive measures and actions during school if needed and to prevent any planning from happening at nighttime. Extra Prevention of In-School Tragedy From elementary school to college, all schools should have security guarding it's halls so that there can be a prevention of school shootings. Some extra prevention measures for harm in school could be considered. They are: Bullet proof windows can be used so that if in case an intruder shoots, the people inside will remain safe. An updated technological answering system at the front door could help the secretary see exactly who is entering the school at what time.
