Transcript: What are some examples of types of robots? What are the main components of a robot? Industrial- welding, factory automation Entertainment & Toy- ASIMO, animatronics, RoboSapien, LEGO Household- Neato XV-11, Roomba, Automower Military- PackBot, bomb disposal, search and rescue Medical- remote surgery, minimally invasive surgery What is a modern day robot you find interesting? What is a robot? My Robot Presentation People make robots because they’re useful. Robots are machines that can be used to do jobs. Robots are really useful in space. Robotic spacecraft can visit other worlds and robotic airplanes can fly without a pilot aboard. So we can use robots to explore areas of space that are just too far for an astronaut to visit and do jobs that would be too dangerous for an astronaut to do, like fixing a problem on the outside of a space rocket. What does that robot do? My Robot Presentation Why do we build robots? Fiona Burdick The Neato. The Neato is the smartest most powerful self cleaning robot and it's made by Neato Robotics. A machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions automatically, especially one programmable by a computer. 1.controller 2.arm 3.drive 4.end effector 5.sensor Unlike the Roomba vacuum cleaner, which goes randomly around a room, the Neato robot travels in straight line patterns partially overlapped, with the help of a laser range finder that scans around in a full 360° circle, and the SLAM algorithm that allows it to map the room being vacuumed while it is completing its task.
