Transcript: We were given the a few pieces of audio with a few problems and some ideas on how to solve them. we were leaning how to use a new software so it did become tricky at times but i think after a while i got the hang of it. Different audio set ups; The cure for wellness Lars and the real girl For my found sound clip, i decided to make a sound plan. this helps planning because it means i can schedule all the sounds instead of doing them on the spot. it also helped me think of what to use for the sounds such as the guitar strings; it was really helpful because we recorded it a few times and then edited it so it sounded creepier. the sound plan turned out really well and i think i did a good sensible job although next time i think i would maybe be a bit more creative. in the trailer or John Wick 2, the audio is very similar the whole way through, loud synchronous sound. the audio tended to attack, sustain for about 2 seconds and then decay very quickly or not even at all. most of it was synchronous sound although there were a few bridges; mostly with speech and narration that was asynchronous sound. the pitch tended to be lower and the intensity had a higher volume; especially at the jumpy parts. there wasn't much ambiance because it was all music. the sound effects adds realism and emotion, it also sets the mood to suspenseful. A lot of these sounds were made as you would expect such as the light switch; we simply flicked a light switch while for the fast footsteps we slapped hands on the wood with the pace in our minds. With all of these sounds we used a zoom h4n hand microphone and held it different distances away from each noise. if we held it too close the volume be too loud and buzz a bit but if it was too far it would be too small. some of the audio clips were asynchronous sound such as the squeaky violin and some was synchronous sound such as the footsteps and the bed covers moving. i think this task turned out well such as the found sounds, they all sounded realistic with the equipment we had although if i were to do it again i would probably use actual violins for the jump scare. The audio is joyful through the whole thing which kind of represents the storyline and the speech is clear and easy to understand, although some things are a bit quirky which shows the character. The pitch tended to be higher and the soft music added emotion. the trailer included a lot of pre-laps of the main character speaking and asynchronous sound apart from part of the narration. the music is really upbeat and happy and is used for the ambiance sound. the music accelarandos and the speech has a joyful tone. it also has a lot of sound bridges which help the viewer undrstand the storyline because it shows more clips in one speech. After i finished this, i asked for feedback. everyone seemed to have something good to say about it for example molly thinks the noises are synchronized and Jan thought they were realistic. although i could improve on things such as syncronising some of the noises like with the footsteps. i could also have added some speech which was suggested by viv which is a reasonable observation When we started audio, we were first given a clip with no audio and were asked to fix it, i decided to research different ways to fix it and could either find sounds from websites such as youtube or freesound, or to create the sounds ourselfs and syncronise them to the clip. so i found sounds from the internet to replace the clear audio and then made my own sounds. This task was very complex as when had to find it was hard to make synchronous sound, it was hard to make the footsteps be in the same pace as the audio of footsteps, although when we created our own audio it was easier as we knew what pace to do. Sound effects are added to create realism and music is rally added to create different spurs of emotions. although, i didn't add a certain song throughout either of my clips but i did add bursts of creepy music http://mldubiel124.wixsite.com/emilydubiel/single-post/2017/02/08/Audio-set-up http://mldubiel124.wixsite.com/emilydubiel/single-post/2017/02/03/Finding-and-creating-sounds Missing/ problematic audio Audio presentation Trailer John wick 2 I started out my research before my post production, i researched 4 different genre trailers and learnt the codes and conventions of audio in them for example; the conjuring two was a horror film which included odd music of a quior that contrasted with the creepy narration. i would say my trailer goes under the genre of phsycololical thriller, just like the cure for wellness. the audio for this trailer included a few short lines of narration, suspenseful music, a lot of asynchronous sound and a few sound bridges so i kept this in mind when planning the audio for my trailer. this research was primary research as it was observational, i did this by simple watching the trailers and taking notes. the helped me decided what audio elements to have in my trailer and what type of
