Transcript: Sirius Sirius, a blue white star, is a binary star system. It is accompanied by Sirius B, a white dwarf. It is approximately 8.6 light years away. Like the sun, this star is in the main sequence. info Sirius Sirius is in the Canis Major constellation. Also known as the Dog Star, it is the "chief star" in the constellation. When looking at this constellation, you might notice that Sirius is the one flickering with many colors which gives it its other nickname, a rainbow star. interesting info info The mass of this massive star is 2.02 solar masses. The solar radius is 1.76, although the magnetic field has been detected to be very weak. The star's coordinates are Right Ascension at 6h 45mins 09sec and Declination at-16 degrees 42 mins 58sec. Sirius is the brightest star in our night sky and is burning at 9,940K. with it's magnitude at -1.44, Sirius is about twice the size of the sun and 20 times as bright!
