Transcript: BEAN STOCK BOXES The first corrugated cardboard box manufactured in the USA was in 1895.[13] By the early 1900s, wooden crates and boxes were being replaced by corrugated paper shipping cartons. By 1908, the terms "corrugated paper-board" and "corrugated cardboard" were both in use in the paper trade.[14] The Musée du Cartonnage et de l'Imprimerie (Museum of the Cardboard Box) in Valréas, France traces the history of cardboard box making and the art involved in printing, in the region.[15] Cardboard boxes have been used there since 1840 for transporting the Bombyx mori moth and its eggs from Japan to Europe by silk manufacturers, and for more than a century the manufacture of cardboard boxes was a major industry in the area History of the BOX! Ring box! Moving box The first commercial paperboard (not corrugated) box was .[10] The advent of flaked cereals increased the use of cardboard boxes. The first to use cardboard boxes as cereal cartons was the Kellogg Company. Corrugated (also called pleated) paper was patented in England in 1856, and used as a liner for tall hats, but corrugated boxboard was not patented and used as a shipping material until December 20, 1871. The patent was issued to Albert Jones of New York City for single-sided (single-face) corrugated board.[11] Jones used the corrugated board for wrapping bottles and glass lantern chimneys. The first machine for producing large quantities of corrugated board was built in 1874 by G. Smyth, and in the same year Oliver Long improved upon Jones's design by inventing corrugated board with liner sheets on both sides.[12] This was corrugated cardboard as we know it today. The first corrugated cardboard box manufactured in the USA was in 1895.[13] By the early 1900s, wooden crates and boxes were being replaced by corrugated paper shipping cartons. Gair's invention came about as a result of an accident: he was a Brooklyn printer and paper-bag maker during the 1870s, and one day, while he was printing an order of seed bags, a metal ruler normally used to crease bags shifted in position and cut them. Gair discovered that by cutting and creasing in one operation he could make prefabricated paperboard boxes. Applying this idea to corrugated boxboard was a straightforward development when the material became available around the turn of the twentieth century

Transcript: ADDIE AND SAMI'S STRESS RELIEVING BOXES Communication Arts 2018-19 Problem the problem and why we care the problem Anxiety and depression make everyday life for teens a struggle and even deadly. 63% of people with anxiety and depression don’t get treatment and struggle to find hope. According to TeensMentalHealth.org, 1 in 5 young people suffer from a mental illness such as anxiety or depression. That's 20 percent of our population. We hope to decrease this number by encouraging young students and letting them know there is hope. We are passionate about this topic because we have close connections to people who suffer with mental disorders why we care This problem is strikingly important to us because multiple friends and family members suffer with various mental illness. We wanted to help support our Lincoln family by teaching them coping strategies to help deal with stressful times or situations. Mental illness affects a wide variety of people all across the globe. project Project Summary THE PROBLEM JAN FEB MAR $ #1 #2 #3 2017 WHAT WAS DONE To get started,we questioned Mrs.Chonis about how many students visited her weekly. Next, we designed and put together a box covered with positive messages, guided meditation/ breathing strategies, and a crisis hotline. Inside the box was a survey of their experiences and a homemade stress ball. Finally, we delivered the boxes to Mrs. Chronis so she could distribute them to students in need. The main reason we foucas on stress is because almost every one experiences it on a daliy basis so out product can reach and help a wider variaty of people rather that just thoes with a mental ilness BOX LAYOUT stress balls box cover data data numbers Mrs. Chonis gets over 2000 student visits each year 80% of the students that received a box had a positive experience and would use it again some students that received the boxes still use the strategies The breathing exercises and stress balls were the most known strategies and also the most liked charts Click to edit text conclusion conclusion what we learned We learned that doing favors for someone else can be difficult and tedious but it is worth it in the end. making people happy feels good. the project the presentation We like to be an expert on programs we are experts at. We like having a safety net. We learned how to overcome frustrations. the next steps Mental illness is not something that can solved/ abolished within a few days but i hope this project inspired you to help someone you know that is struggling. To continue positive affects we would supply Mrs. Chonis with more boxes, and continue to spread awareness. YOU can help to! Share your own tips with a friend or family member and let them know they have your support.

Transcript: There are five different types of boxes that are discussed in this presentation. First is the classic Message Box. Although used for a variety of reasons, their purpose hardly changes. Message Boxes display a message when the programmer desires to update the user on a recent action they performed, or to give the user an option towards a course of action. The options that a user can make with a Message Box include cancel, yes or no, or just simply, OK. Next is the List Box. The list box does not accept input directly from the user.Although something can be added, removed, and changed from a list, most programs have a set list that a user chooses something from. The benefits of lists are not limited to programmers.Lists make a program more interactive and engaged with the user as well. Contrary to list boxes... Input boxes take direct user input! If you are a user of a computer, you are familiar with input boxes. Anytime that a program requires you to fill out your name, email address, or password, you have likely typed into a input box. Whenever you combine this box with a list box, A Combo Box is the result! These are less common than your typical list box and input box, but these are very useful. Whenever a certain program does not have the exact information that relates to you, you can now enter in the information that does. Lastly, there are dialog boxes These differ from the boxes that were just discussed. In a sense, there are more closely related to Message Boxes. Dialog boxes offer a more conversation-like feel to the options that are available to choose. They have a field that you can enter your information into like this: This example shows this type of box the best: By: Abel Walker As you can see, there is an option to select as well as type your own. They Look like this: There are The Different Types of Boxes This is not necessarily what all of these boxes look like, but most have the general look of something around this: Examples:
