Transcript: costa rica weather can usally only get up to 80degrees & only goes down to about 70degrees in the day the climate usally doesnt change around that much because its very tropical over there. The driest time of the year is through January and March, the wettest months are September & October. When its summer here in the u.s its winter over there and so obiviously when its winter over here its summer over there, so they celebrate christmas in the summer, rather then to in the winter like us. Volcanoes Costa Rica is known for its huge volcanoes can make a horrible scene when disaster strikes. One of the most famous volcanos in Costa Rica is the Arenal The Arenal volcano is 5,437ft tall and right now it is currently in a resting phase, but for the past 43years is has errupted many times with major and minor erruptions,causing great damage to its surrounding land and people. San Jose the capitol of Costa Rica. what is it about water falls that leaves people invorgated and powerful? It has been scientific proven that the water in the falls have tiny particles known as negative ions that are known for giving people good health and leaving them in a good mood with great energy. this waterfall here is the Nauyaca waterfall located in Dominical, Costa Rica, it gets 1,000s of visitors each year because of its elegance and insperation it gives out to many people! The rainforest,is mainly why costa rica gets so many visitors each year, they take up more than a quarter of costa rica's total land area and has up to 10,000 species, plants, and trees! The ingredients include cilantro, lime juice, garlic, tilapia fillets, sugar, rice, onion, orange, tomatoes, black beans, oregano, and cayenne pepper. Capirotada Eggs are another food served with Gallo Pinto. They are usually served fried, but sometimes they are served scrambled with cheese and sour cream. A sweet, moistened cake with whipped frosting. It is a blend of rice, rotisserie chicken, mixed vegetables, red bell pepper, chopped celery, onion, traditional Costa Rican Salsa Lizano, soy sauce, and topped with cilantro. Also known as "Chocolate Bread Pudding" is a dessert typically found in Costa Rica. A sweetened chocolate and milk mixture poured over toasted bread, then baked Costa Rican Banana Cake Breakfast Fresh bananas, mashed, and mixed with flour and other dry ingredients to make a delicious cake. [bananas, flour, coconut sugar, cinnamon, ground ginger] Arroz con Pollo Ingredients in most Gallo Pinto recipes: Olla de Carne is a traditional Costa Rican hodge podge soup. It is made up of lean beef, short ribs, potato, cassava, carrots, corn on the cob, taro roots, sweet potato, and plantains. Served with a bowl of rice. Fresh Fruit Costa Rican Tilapia Many Costa Ricans serve a side of fruit in their meals, especially during breakfast. They serve fruits like mango, pineapple, strawberries, and papaya. Sopa Negra Description: The most common lunch dish in Costa Rica is Casado, literally meaning “married man.” The plate is a combination of rice, black beans, bell peppers, onions, fried plantains, and a meat of your choice (beef, chicken, fish, pork). Squash cooked in butter and sugar to make a jelly-like honey. [white spaghetti squash, crushed sugar cane, cinnamon sticks] Gallo Pinto is a traditional breakfast dish for Costa Ricans. "Gallo Pinto" translates to "Spotted Rooster" and the name is said to come from the contrast between the dark beans and the light rice. The dish is served with sour cream, avocado, and tortillas Tamales are different types of meat, often mixed with some type of mole, and wrapped in a banana husk. The ingredients include banana leaves, chicken or beef roast, rice, potatoes, corn masa, cumin, achiote, raisins or dried plums, garlic, pepper, and onion. Olla de Carne Lunch Fried plantains are also served with Gallo Pinto. They are served ripe and usually sweet with a little sugar on top. Tres Leches Fried Plantains This authentic latino dish is common in Costa Rica. Derived from the verb “picar” ( to chop/mince) Picadillo de Chayote is a blend of chayote(type of squash), shredded beef, red bell pepper, corn, onion and traditional spices served on a fresh tortilla. Served with rice and beans. Semisweet chocolate, cinnamon, sugar, milk, egg bread Eggs Black beans, garlic, red bell pepper, onion, tomato, jalapeno, cilantro, salt/pepper, Tabasco sauce Dinner Menu Rice, black beans, red bell peppers, onion, cilantro, Lizano Salsa (a condiment that was made in Costa Rica in 1920) Sopa Negra translates to "black soup". This common dish is usually served with fried plantain, rice, and fruit juice. There are many variations of this dish that are eaten all around the world.
