Personal Development Presentation

Transcript: Personal Development Presentation How i've developed my confidence in my teaching skills over the last year.. Thinking back to the start.... What feels like many many years ago, i suddenly fell into teaching... This was me! Very nervous, apprehensive but excited for what i was about to let myself in for... I first started working at A&R Training Services in April 2010. Here i ran a course called e2e which consisted of building basic skills in Literacy & Numeracy, developing Personal & Social Skills, Job search and building self-confidence and motivation. Memories from the first few weeks of teaching....... I remember the first time i taught the group when my colleague decided to jet off on holiday. I was so nervous i spent all the night before practising the session to myself in the mirror! September 2010 came around very quickly. Our contract had changed to a course called Foundation Learning. My e2e learners progressed as the FL learners started. Adapting to these new changes were difficult. My next step... CERTIFICATE IN EDUCATION (POST-COMPULSORY EDUCATION AND TRAINING) Was it just me or did anybody else feel petrified?!! Assignment One: Initial Teaching Assignment Looking at the context of my practice Micro - Teachings "ICE BREAKERS" First Tutor and Mentor observation... "INTERVIEW TECHNQIUES" Concentrate on your strengths and work on your weaknesses Assignment Two: Enabling and Assessing Learning Understanding Learning and Assessment Learner Profiles Scheme of work Critical Review and Conclusion Personal Development Presentations!!! I feel i have developed my confidence throughout the year by: Trying out new methods, techniques and activities Gaining support, advice and feedback from my colleagues, tutor and mentor on my teaching practice Observing other teachers in my work place, micro-teaching and presentations Feedback from students during and after sessions Completing college Assignments on the context of my teaching programme, looking at various learning theories and assesment technqiues and passing! Figured out my teaching style to suit individual learners Through initial assessment, VAK questionnaires and getting to know the learners it's not difficult to find their learning style Rapport with learners Value and appreciate them with as individuals Consistency from the teacher Listening & responding to their ideas Showing a sense of humour Sharing personal insights & experiences Relating course material in everyday terms and examples Understanding that students occasionally have problems arise that inadvertently hinder their progress in their courses .

Transcript: This is where you explain the behind the scenes process. ie. First I check your application to make sure you have included everything we need. Then the GAC assess the applications online and get to argue out which grants should be funded. Their recommendations go to the CBF Board for approval at their meeting in month. Once the Board have agreed to the grant, we send you paperwork in the mail. You need to get two signatures. Make sure you read the grant agreement carefully and make note of the reporting requirements and approved budget, it may be different to the budget outlined in your application. Return the grant agreement with an invoice but keep a copy handy. Make sure your Board and Management know the details of the grant requirements. Make sure relevant people have access to the grant agreement to avoid potential problems later. We process payment. Webinar topic - make green Webinar topic - make green Coming up next slide... This is where you would start to go into detail about the specifics of your webinar. Common mistakes that people make in applications - no really, this is how to fill out the budget etc. How to best explain your argument to GAC assessors How much money is available and what is the breakdown for distribution? ie. Approximately $100,000 is earmarked for equipment. What are the trends in funding over recent years? ie. have we moved away from funding some things and generally prioritise the funding of others? Is there a focus on a particular area of funding at the moment, and if so why? What are the nuts and bolts of eligibility for this category? Are there any recent guideline or application form changes that experienced applicants should be aware of? Include screen shot examples if you have them, or cut to an actual application form and use the mouse pointer. This section is likely to take more than one page. Subject of webinar The webinar will be starting soon... Are there any projects that you can highlight that are a good example for applicants and were funded in recent rounds? Insert a picture too. You might throw to your guest speaker for questions, or just open up the webinar for general discussion. Either way, don't forget to let people ask questions. This section will require a different number of pages for different topics, so you can add a page by clicking on the grey frame around this page, copying it (control C) and pasting it in a blank space on the side. You can then move that page around in sequence using the hand icon. You will also need to add it to the path. What happens next? Other imminent rounds... Coming up next slide... What are the basics assessors are trying to find out? Include any advice you might have about the management of grant funds here. ie. Spend the grant funds as per the approved budget. Keep your receipts for the Auditor/Treasurer Collect information you will need for your grant report along the way. This will make it easier. Once the project is completed log into SmartyGrants and complete the grant report form. Refer back to your grant agreement to make sure you include everything required. This is your chance to show off about project highlights, great results, or tell us what you've learnt if it didn't go to plan. Include photos and recordings. We love sharing grant outcomes on Facebook and in our Annual Report. While people are here, is there anything else that's coming up real soon that they should know about? Conference we'll be at?
