The overall thing we learned was about how many factors influence an individuals life, and history. We were able to analyze and connect all these activities, we connected these all with the value of tolerance since ethnicities, cultures, and races were all spoken throughout the activities. Also, we analyzed and found out that our world still needs more acceptance, and that we can begin the change, because as individuals and as a group we can make a change in history. Native Americans and early government In this activity we entered PBS learning and watched 2 videos that explained the beginning of democracy. Native Americans 16 years before the declaration of independence, created a democracy in order to end war. More importantly, the founding fathers learned democracy from them, and that is the reason why America now has democracy this way. Without this activity we would've continued going through life without knowing how the democracy ideas surged, the declaration of independence and the constitution was created and the thought or people that influenced this. The reading in America Cultural Roots talked about the paleo Indians and how there culture represents a central part of our heritage and history. There was an interview to a group of children that had an event to celebrate their Native-American heritage. This helped us realize that every culture is affected by their surroundings. The environment we live in is able to change our gastronomy, architecture, our transportation, and even our activities. In their case, they were preserving their culture and teaching other about the activities they performed. Later, we connected to our own lives, we analyzed how the location of our homes, our school, our language and culture, these factors influence our daily lives and community. Joe Biden chooses Kamala Harris as running mate What role do individuals play in history? We read an article in class where they explained that Joe Biden chose Kamala Harris as his running mate. This information is really important and in a way, surprising since only twice has a women been nominated and never has one been elected, and Kamala presents bigger difficulties since she is an Indian-American. This opened our eyes to see the reality of how our society and government is racist and sexist still. We connected Kamala and Martin Luther since they are 2 important activists that are not very well-accepted due to their skin color or ethinicty.
