After the fight he said quote "It's not the siz of the man but the size of his heat that matters" Mr. Moderator, Brother Lomax, brothers and sisters, friends and enemies: I just can't believe everyone in here is a friend, and I don't want to leave anybody out. The question tonight, as I understand it, is "The Negro Revolt, and Where Do We Go From Here?" or What Next?" In my little humble way of understanding it, it points toward either the ballot or the bullet. Before we try and explain what is meant by the ballot or the bullet, I would like to clarify something concerning myself. I'm still a Muslim; my religion is still Islam. That's my personal belief. Just as Adam Clayton Powell is a Christian minister who heads the Abyssinian Baptist Church in New York, but at the same time takes part in the political struggles to try and bring about rights to the black people in this country; and Dr. Martin Luther King is a Christian minister down in Atlanta, Georgia, who heads another organization fighting for the civil rights of black people in this country; and Reverend Galamison, I guess you've heard of him, is another Christian minister in New York who has been deeply involved in the school boycotts to eliminate segregated education; well, I myself am a minister, not a Christian minister, but a Muslim minister; and I believe in action on all fronts by whatever means necessary. This Presentation is on boxer Muhammad Ali. Thank you. Fight with Frazier Evander Holyfield Muhammed Ali has fought several fights in his life. Believe it or not he came up with the quote "Float like a butterfly sting like a bee". Nobody in the arena that night knew what was going on. But one rumor that was going on was that people did not like seeing Joe Frazier as champion. It was a 15 round fight and the people were shocked they saw adrenaline in the both of them but at the same they w- ere both just so exausted. Muhammed Ali ended up winning that fight, and the people were actually really happy. His Fights Conclusion Life and Writing Muhammad Ali He had no real relation but he was involved and knew Malcom X. He was all for the black rights he was figthing in Vietnam and he said quote " I have said it once and I will say it again. The real enemy of my people is here". Relation To the black panthers And one more thing... He was involved with several other groups other than the black panthers. In conclusion Muhammad Ali was put through several events in his life. Here is where his story begins..

Transcript: Introduction By: Omar Abdallah The Legacy and the Generosity All the Way to the Top Acknowledged His Greatness Muhammad Ali is influential, powerful, and a true jester. He is the greatest boxer of the 20th century. Muhammad Ali is a former American boxer, and is the best heavyweight champion in world boxing history Muhammad Ali's birth name was Cassius Clay He started training at the age of 12 He won the world heavyweight championship when he was 22, in 1964 He told the world he was the greatest boxer Everybody believed him because he already proved his greatness He once said "Parachute me into Highstreet China , and every kid would know who I am." The Beginning Muhammad Ali wanted something greater to live for, to hold on to, he wanted to live and die for a purpose. And thus he began his spiritual journey In 1964 he joined the Nation of Islam Two years later he was drafted into the Vietnam War, but he wouldn't because his religious beliefs held him back He went to court for refusing to be inducted into the military, in 1967 he was found guilty. The boxing association took away his title and suspended him from boxing for three and a half years, after a long court trial to get his name cleared. The Return (part 1) The Return Qualities That Made Him Great His relentless determination, austere hard work, and generous nature made Muhammad Ali one of the greatest and most influential icons not in just athletics. but in world history Muhammad Ali was good inside the ring as he is outside the ring His boxing career from 1960-1981 was known for his amazing record of 56 wins and only 5 losses, 37 of his wins were knockouts The Return (part 3) Introduction In the late 1970s Ali started to slack off and lost to Leon Spinks in 1978. He was also knocked out by Larry Holmes in 1980. In 1981, Ali lost his last fight, losing his heavyweight title to Trevor Berbick He announced his retirement from his boxing career the next day. In 1984 Muhammad Ali announced that he has Parkinson's disease, a degenerative neurological condition. Muhammad Ali has been raising funds for the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He has also been supporting the make a wish foundation and the special olympics. Muhammad Ali has been traveling to different countries where help is needed and helps out. Muhammad Ali received The Presidential Medal of Freedom, from president George W. Bush in 2005. Ali hosted the 15th Annual Celebrity Fight Night Awards in Phoenix in March 2009. The event benefited the Celebrity Fight Night Foundation and the Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center. Spiritual Search Almost There! Muhammad Ali returned to the ring in 1970. His first fight after he had returned was against Jerry Quarry, and Ali knocked him out. Why Was He The Greatest? He is known for his skills inside of the ring, and outside the ring. He is the most recognized athlete across the world in the past hundred years! He had an amazing record of 56 wins and only 5 losses, 37 of his wins were knockouts. His career started in 1960 and officially retired in 1979. The Return (part 2) On January 17, 1942 in the town of Louisville, Kentucky, a legend was born The following year, he took on Joe Frazier. The fight got itself a name, “ The Fight of the Century”. After 15 long rounds, Joe managed to knock down Ali before beating Ali by decision. His actual name was Cassius Marcellus Clay until he changed it. When he turned 12, he started boxing. He got really good, and when he was 18, he competed in the Olympics. Muhammad just starting to box. Muhammad as a child Career Career In 1960, after winning Olympic Gold, Muhammad Ali started his professional career and quickly became a heavyweight boxing champion in 1964. He was in the movie "The Greatest" in 1976 and the TV show "Freedom Road". During the Vietnam war in 1981, Muhammad didn't want to join the military, so they took away his boxing license. Fighting in the ring Fighting in the ring Moments to remember Moments to remember Muhammad won many awards in his lifetime. In 1959-1960, he won the National Golden Gloves titles. He won six Kentucky Golden Glove titles throughout his lifetime. In 1960, he won the Olympic Gold Medal in boxing. 3 world heavyweight championships were won as well. He is also known for his brave refusal to join the Vietnam War. Muhammad Ali had an amazing 56-5 win record, with him giving 37 knockouts. Muhammad winning Gold Muhammad defeating an opponent Muhammad's role in life His role Muhammad's role in life was probably inspiring others for his bravery, religious freedom, and showing everyone that anyone can do it if they try. He was the first fighter to win 3 world heavyweight championships. Even after he retired and was damaged from fighting, he kept going and was a goodwill ambassador and a humanitarian hoping for peace and equality for all. What was ironic about this was he won two titles in his prime was banned from boxing for 3 years, then won another title. Beat Zbigniew Pietrzykowski for the gold medal by 5-0 unanimous decision in 1960 Olympics. Ali's Cultural impact was mainly toward the African americans. It was toward them, first because Muhammad Ali was african amercian and was globaly known. Also it was toward them because he was shown as a message of black pride, when he refused to be inducted into the U.S.A military and won his case. Ali was a heroic figure because he inspired many other african americans to go out and do something with their lives. He was a great American boxer. His life story is very inspiring. He helped kids with disabilities and young men with his earnings. Why I chose this person Early Successes 1960 Rome Olympics was a turning point for Ali where he won a gold He got more fame when he defeated Sonny Liston in 1963. He called himself "The Greatest". He changed his name to Ali when he converted to islam Early life Obstacles Finding avenues for black young men to use their energy in positive ways was a challenge but Ali was very disciplined about using community center to train Dodging the draft gave Ali a bad name and championship loss. It was a mistake he made. He became very sick. and had to go to the hospital two days before the game. He had Hernia. People wondered how Ali would handle racial unrest and muslim movement, but Ali knocked Sonny Liston out in one minute in the first round. Ali's most famous line is "float like a butterfly and sting like a bee." Three Interesting things Three Interesting Things Ali was a young boxer and was extremely disciplined. He still respected his opponents. After Ali won the match in Manila, Ali and Frazier exchanged expressions of respect and amazement for the other's physical stamina and courage. Ali was a very strategic boxer because he would hit the opponents in the place that they were weak in and win. Ali was not, like Sonny Liston or George Foreman, the neighborhood bullies skirting the law and beating up smaller kids. Ali was a good kid who knew what he wanted. How is the person doing After boxing, Ali suffered from Parkinson's disease which is a progressive nervous system disorder that affects movement. Ali's high profile and his willingness to disclose his condition to the world is one of his bravest, most inspiring acts. In 1997, Ali testified in congress and got $100 million towards the research for a cure for Parkinson's disease. Ali died June 3, 2016 of the disease. How is the person doing Why was the person admired Character traits Ali was admired for many reasons like... He became a symbol of hope for young black, irish, latinos, italians young men who worked in farms and lived in ghettos but dreamed of fame and fortune. He used his earnings to help people with disabilities and became a nationally recognized leader of youth. He supported the National Parkinson's Foundation. Ali was admired because in his professional life he was a standout. the reason is because through his style, speed, and footwork he showed the world that intelligence, discipline, and determination would overcome the tactics of sheer power and aggression in boxing.
