Historical Sketch LDS Business College has provided quality education for 123 years. The school began November 15, 1886, as the Salt Lake Academy under the direction of Dr. Karl G. Maeser and William B. Dougall. Willard Done, the first teacher, welcomed 84 students when the College first opened its doors. Recognition has come to the College as growth and development continued under 12 successive educational leaders. It was the only commercial school in America conducted by a religious body to be admitted to the National Association of Accredited Commercial Schools. Under the leadership of R. Ferris Kirkham (1961 – 1986), the College achieved its first accreditation by the Northwest Association of Schools and Colleges in 1977. On December 9, 2008, Elder Russell M. Nelson, Chairman of the Church Board of Education Executive Committee, announced John Lawrence (Larry) Richards as the College's twelfth president. The College moved to its present location at the Triad Campus in July 2006. The College has a rich tradition shared by more than 76,000 alumni and scores of dedicated faculty and staff. Destiny Martinez-Townsend, Justin Daniels GOAL! Period 2 4/16/15 LDS Business College Size and Population My whole life has been hard my parents divorced at age one I live with my grandparents, and I got bullied at a very young age. All because, I was too nice, and too nice to stand up for my self. My parents taught me to be genuine, and kind no matter what and it became a second nature. I refuse to say any unkind words to anyone ever. I am a member of the Church Of JESUS CHRIST Of Latter-Day Saints. My grandparents have taught me some good values and morals and the gospel has shaped my life for good. It gave me hope in my hardest times.. and It has gave me Joy, and peace. A reason I may want to attend this college is to have a good environment to be in at all times with loving and caring people. -Destiny LDS Business College Why I may interested in attending: Tuition Per Semester

Transcript: People who are seeking for a church or are looking to find a new ideology are sought out by the Mormon missionaries and members. After taking a series of lessons and forging an interest in the LDS Church, new investigators may be baptized and join the church. Faith: The steadfast faith found in many Mormons provides hope for a better world, confidence in dealing with challenges , and sense of spiritual security and strength. Fruit: Many people are attracted to the LDS Church partially because they find appeal in the Mormon lifestyle, emphasis on service, and sense of community. According to some studies, Mormons live healthier lives, have less problems with addictions, and are more likely to have stronger families and marriages. Future: Mormons have a profound belief that all of God's promises are being delivered or will be in the times to come, on the condition that believers strive to fulfill their covenants to him and strive to follow Christ's teachings. What didn't? http://www.masterclassmanagement.com/ManagementCourse-Training1.html Rules: 1. When having a conversation use the finger rule. Avoid speaking over others. 2. Be respectful. It's okay to offer your opinion but don't be rude. This goes for me too. Please call me out on it. 3. Be serious. Not only does this influence your future in AIESEC, keep in mind you basically hold the future of AIESEC in your hands. These are the people that, potentially, will be taking leadership roles as in applying for TL, VP, LCP, and beyond. Personal Why is team culture essential? Have education resources available. 5. Keep morale high. If someone has no motivation whether it's with the work or to collaborate with others, then how can you expect them to contribute their best. 6. Avoid making them feel underutilized and undervalued. Strong one on one relationships Collaborative goals Work out issues between meetings Each member must look at each colleague and believe “s/he is fantastic at what s/he does and brings so much value to our organization.” Period. Transcript: Grace is recieved by repenting, being baptized, believing in Jesus Christ, and receiving a gift from the Holy Ghost (what they call the Holy Spirit). This can be attained by diligent seeking. In the Mormon belief, both men and women are responsible for raising a child. Only men can serve in priesthood but say that the special women's organization is important as well. Wives are also serve a role in helping their husbands in their priesthood offices. Other Practiced Ordinances These are witnesses of Jesus Christ. They help teach Church members and represent the Church worldwide. These people, as well as the First Presidency, oversee the rest of the General Authorities. Mormon officers have stopped practicing polygamy in 1890 and say that modern polygamists who called themselves Mormons are not recognized by the Church. They support the model of marriage between a man and a woman, because they believe it is the best for children. Baptism is done by immersion to adults; children cannot commit sin therefor have no need to be reborn spiritually. Once they are eight they have a sense of morality (right or wrong), thus can be baptized. The dead can also be baptized, as they can choose to reject it in spirithood. Someone has to have "priesthood authority" to perform a baptism. Saving ordinances are essential to the religion and salvation; these cause the individual to enter a solemn covenant with the Lord and include baptism, confirmation, the temple endowment, the marriage sealing, and ordination to the Melchizedek Priesthood for men. Authorities Ordinances "Ordinances in the Church include administration to the sick , blessing the sacrament, blessing of children , (and) conferring the Holy Ghost." Presiding Bishopric Charisma Consists of smaller leadership groups. Includes Primary, Relief Society, Sunday School, Young Men, and Young Women General Presidencies. The groups are made of a President and two counselors. Worship Prophets and apostles write scriptures about God's word. These scriptures include the Bible, the Book of Mormon (which is another Testamant of JC), the Doctrine of the Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price (written by Joseph Smith, offers translations and interpretations). Women's Rights Includes president, two counselors, and 12-member High Council helps select bishops serving in their ward. High priests also help serve other members. Homosexuality Ward Bishoprics Presidency of 70 This is the prophet. He has all the authority to make the ultimate decisions, and has two counselors to assist him. Grace First Presidency Sources Structure Latter-Day Saints, or Mormons First and Second Quorums of the Seventy Polygamy Seven members of the First or Second Quorums represent the Presidency of the Seventy; while most presidencies consist of a president and two counselors, this section contains only presidents. Connection to Salvation lds.org; mormon.org Mormons hold liturgical sacrament meetings on Sundays, which families generally attend. They have hymn books and sing hymns, church members offer prayers, a communion (bread and wine in this case), and 'two or three assigned speakers'. Other groups meet before or after the sacrament meeting, including Sunday School. *Individual prayer and keeping ordinances are other ways to worship An individual is saved spiritually and physically through God's grace. Physically by JC's salvation, spiritually "through faith in Jesus Christ, obedience to the laws and ordences of the gospel in service to Christ." Bible Interpretation Modern Issues [General Authorities are the same level of authority under the 1st Presidency and the Qof12] While participating in the saving ordinances is the main step to salvation, it is not enough. To achieve salvation, one has to continue to be obedient to God's word, which the ordinances help guide. Salvation Destiny Stevens Along with his two counselors, the Presiding Bishopric oversees the non-spiritual aspect of the Church. They oversee the Church's affairs worldwide, and serve as role models for members of the Church by volunteering and serving. Quorum of 12 Apostles Individual Members While Mormons don't condone homosexuality and don't officially approve, they officially recognize gay people as human. They do consider homosexuality as a sin, and as such they would not allow non-heterosexual people as members because it goes against their beliefs. Active Mormon adults each serve roles within their church, such as secretary or librarian. Church Structure Stake Presidency Organized into quorums at the ward level, men serve here starting at 12 and advance a level in priesthood every two years. They help guide younger people as well as other Church duties. Oversee general affairs; there are currently eight active quorums of the seventy. They serve in the Presidency of the Seventy as well as in local area Quorums of the Seventy. Prophets are sent by the holy Ghost who lead the church.
