The students will have to make a play or skit about the different time periods of a subject that they are studying. The activity would allow the students to commuicate in an appropraite manner and scaffolding. Example: Western exploration An interaction of students walking and thinking of the people in that time period. The students get to discuss what each person ate, slept on, did during the day, and wars that were happening. If the students person dies then they go down onto the ground but they need to discuss what is happening. Young Vygotsky Contribution Lev Vygotsky became an educational philosopher to which we still study and use his theory today. But he was not always a philosopher... Vygotsky's work has helped understand the importance of socialization between peers and that exposing students to different culture helps give perspective For the future, there is an importance to make sure that study's and research can help further Vygotsky's theories and contribution to the impact of socialization Life of Lev Vygotsky Born in November 18th of 1896 in Orsha, Belarus His family Vygotsky was the second child out of eight child in his household with both parents His mother, Cecelia Moiseievna, who was a teacher and his father, Simkha Vygodskii, who was a banker He went to Moscow State University for a law degree in 1917 When he started to study, he was exposed to multiple disciplines including philosophy, psychology and linguistics Died June 11, 1934 at the age of 37 By: Sam Crump Theories cont. Theory Socio-Cultural theory shows that social and cultural can have a great influence on a cognitive development with helping with thought process and language/communication development. This is done by social interaction between peers. Zone of Proximal Development shows how each student has their zone of understanding a task independently, zone of tasks with minimum help, and teaching the student a new topic. Scaffolding is where a student with more knowledge of a subject will temporarily help another student to become more understanding of the same subject. Vygotsky started his theory's after his dissertation in 1925. He has mutliple theories but 3 educational theories that stick out which are... 1. Socio-Cultural Theory 2. Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD) 3. Scaffolding All of these theories contributed to each other and have been studied many time with different social and educational groups to prove these theories which is why we study these theories now.
