Transverse, Longitudinal, Surface Waves Ultrasound Electromagnetic waves can be classified and arranged according to their various wavelengths/frequencies; this classification is known as the electromagnetic spectrum. An ultrasound scan is a medical test that uses high-frequency sound waves to capture live images from the inside of your body. Ultra-sound waves can be bounced off tissues by using special devices. The echoes are then converted into a picture called a sonogram. The Doppler effect describes the shift in the frequency of a wave sound when the wave source and/or the receiver is moving.
