If you don't have enough iron in your diet, you body won't be able to make any hemoglobin (a protein), this will make it harder for the red blood cells to carry oxygen. This shape has a high surface to volume ratio, which helps the Red Blood Cell to carry more oxygen. Flat disk shape helps the red blood cell to go through the narrow blood stream at the same time. The most unique thing about Red Blood Cell is its lack of organelles such as the nucleus. The life cycle of Red Blood Cell starts from our bone Marrow.
