Transcript: free body diagram force due to gravity force due to gravity: - always points down - always called the weight - measured in newtons equation: fg = w = mg normal force - force between an object and surface - flat table can be an example - same magnitude but in the opposite direction (fg) Equation: Fn= - FG normal force: friction - measured in (N) - opposes motion -slows down moving objects -makes it harder to move stationary objects equation: ff = "mu" Fn friction: air resistance - similar to friction - comes from objects moving through the air - slows down falling objects - points up - more resistance the faster an object moves air resistance: tension the force in a string or chain pulls in the direction of the rope Tension: contact force only happens if the object is touching something pushing a cart up a hill can be an example of contact force contact force: balanced and unbalanced forces - balanced force: If the net force is 0 then it is balanced example: 5N to the left + 5N to the right = 0 - unbalanced force: If the net force is not 0, then the object motion changes to match the resultant example: 5N to the right + 5N to the right = 10N to the right balanced and unbalanced forces: how to draw a free body diagram 1. replace the object with a dot 2. draw all forces acting upon the object - start at the dot and point out 3. label all forces how to draw a free body diagram: examples of FBD's ex1) a book being held in the hand. the forces that are acted upon the object are the force of gravity and normal force. ex2) push book on table. The forces that are used in this object normal force, force of gravity, force of friction. ex3) jumping off a plane with a parachute. The forces that act upon are the force of gravity, and air resistance examples of FBD's:

Transcript: "The Secret Name of Ra" Plot Pyramid Diagram Main Characters Ra is the Sun God. He has a lot of power over his creation. Ra is known and can appear in many different forms. Isis is the Mistress of Magic. She can cast spells and make tricks happen. Exposition Ra, the Sole Creator was visible to the people of Egypt as many forms and names. He could be seen as a scarab beetle and a crowned man. He was also know as the Shinning One or the Hidden One. Isis was the Mistress of Magic, wiser than millions of me. The setting was in the country of Egypt. Inciting Incident Isis longed for Ra's power and dreamed she would have a son named Horus and the throne of Ra to give to her son. She knew that nothing was powerful enough to harm Ra, so she decided to use his power against himself. Isis created a cunning and devious plan. Rising Action Isis created a wicked-looking serpent out of a clod of Earth and Ra's saliva. Through the hours of darkness she whispered spells. Climax/ Crisis When Ra approached the crossroads, the spells of Isis began to work and the clay serpent quivered into life. As Ra passed, it bit him in the ankle and crumbled back into earth. His scream was heard through all creation. Falling Action Isis stood among the gods and goddesses pretending to be as distressed and bewildered as all the other frightened deities. Isis told Ra "Few gods can compare with me in wisdom and I am the Mistress of Magic. If you let me help you, I'm sure that can cure you. Resolution Isis said nothing and knelt beside the Sun God while his pain mourned. When it became unbearable, Ra ordered the other gods to stand back while he whispered his secret name to Isis. Isis than agreed to never tell anyone his secret and then she chanted a spell that drove out the poison in Ra's limbs. Denouement Ra returns to the Boar of Millions of Years and Isis is joyful that her planned worked. She now knows that one day Horus would sit on the throne of Egypt and have the power of Ra.
