White Blood Cells
Transcript: White blood cells images :) Do other organisms besides humans have these cells? THANKS FOR WATCHING :) Where in the body are white blood cells found? I think,Animals have These Cells White blood cells, or leukocytes (also spelled "leucocytes"), are cells of the immune system involved in defending the body against both infectious disease and foreign materials. Five[1] different and diverse types of leukocytes exist, but they are all produced and derived from a multipotent cell in the bone marrow known as a hematopoietic stem cell. They live for about three to four days in the average human body. Leukocytes are found throughout the body, including the blood and lymphatic system.[2] White blood cells make up your body's defense against illnesses and diseases. When your immune system works at its peak, foreign germs are instantly killed by the white blood cells before they infect the rest of the body. Certain diseases, stress, a poor diet and hereditary issues can lead to a low white blood cell count. Do White blood cells have a particular function? Can white blood cells change in a way? Fortunately, white blood cells have the same organelles as most other cells in the body. The WBC has a nucleus, mitochondria, cell walls, lysosomes, Endoplasmic Recticulum, Etc. The only cells in the body that don’t have the same make-up are red blood cells. Now of course, depending on the type of white blood cell, you might have varying amounts of organelles. Does this cell contain every organelle? There are specific types of cells that are responsible for combating a specific type of pathogen. In general, it can be said that there are two broad types of white blood cells - granulocytes and agranulocytes. Granulocytes include neutrophils, eosinophils and basophils. These cells usually have multi-lobed nuclei, along with granules in their cytoplasm. Agranulocytes, that is, cells that do not have any granules in their cytoplasm include cells like monocytes, lymphocytes and macrophages. Given below are details regarding the functions of each of these cell types. White blood cells work by destroying bacteria and viruses that cause infections to the body. There are various types of white blood cellsand they use different mechanisms to destroy disease causing micro organisms. White blood cells are also known as Leukocytes and are produced in the bone marrow. White Blood Cells By,Paulina & Gabby :) How do white blood cells work with other body cells?
