Transcript: Post Mortem By: Patricia Cornwell Prezi by: Don Harley Summary Summary Dr. Scarpetta is looking into the deaths of four young women who all seem to be killed the same way- she suspects a serial killer and the whole town is in fear. The killer has a similar pattern- he looks for women who live alone, always climbing through a window, raping the victim before he brutally kills her. He has no known pattern in choosing his/her victims. But one small detail in the latest murder of a surgeon triggers the solution to the case. But, this is not before she herself is attacked by the killer. There are other subplots including her niece's visit, her romance involving the DA and the politics involved with being chief medical examiner. Timeline Timeline Forensics used Forensics used During the book Dr. Scarpetta used the skills of a forensic palyntologist. During the investigation of one of the first murders of the book Scarpetta used fluorescent lights to find some seminal evidence. The book references DNA profiling as a new technique in the time the story took place. Some of the characters bemoan the lack of a DNA database which would help find suspects faster. Post Mortem calculations were done at the scene of the murders to see how long the body had been dead. The forensics techniques in the book are used exactly how they would be in real life. The post mortem calculations used the body temperature of the victim instead of making up something. Since DNA profiling was apparently new it was not really used just mentioned. Also DNA databases were at their primal states and there was not much data. When Dr. Scarpatta examined a crime scene or was in the lab her medical examiner responsibilities were modeled off of a real medical examiner. When looking for evidence ALS was used to find items not able to be seen by the naked eye. Analysis Analysis

Transcript: by: Jake Martin, Andrew Zalik, Katelyn, and Caitlyn Odysseus Post Mortem We believe that Odysseus is a hero because he shows determination and reslience throughout the epic. He also helped keep moral high in his crew at the lowest poins of the journey Hero or not a hero? Hero or not a hero? Eyes Eyes In th text one memorable sight that affected Odysseus was when he was when he was trapped by Calypso. "Though you wanted her forever, that bride from who you pine each day." and also "But when day came he sat on the rocky shore and broke his own heart groaning, with eyes wet scanning the horizon." This shoows that odysseus is a hero because it shows that he does nnot give in, he did not give in to calypso. Head Head One of the dreams or visions that Odysseus had was to get home to his wife back on Ithica. "My quiet Penelope how well i know would seem a shade before your majesty, death and old age being unknown to you while she must die. Yet, it is true, each day I long for home, long for the sight of home." This piece of evidence shows that he is a hero because it shows that he is determined to get home. Heart Heart One thing that Odysseus loves in the story is his wife penelope. " Now from his breast into his eyes the ache of longing mounted, amd he wept at last, his dear wife, clear and faithful in his arms. This shows that odysseus is a hero because it shows that he is faithful, and that he loves her to his wife after all of thoose years. Feet Feet Some places that Odysseus has been on is when he is on his journey going from island to island. For example when he goes to the island of cyclopes(the cyclops 661). Or when he went to the island of calypso(Calypso652). This is showing that he is a hero because it is showing his bravery going to find a cyclops an calypso. Torso Torso Some thing that Odysseus hides from other people is when he does not tell his crew that he will be the only to survive in the end. "Odysseus does not tell his men about how he will be the only survivor in their long journey. This portrays Odysseus as a hero because he is doing the right thing by not telling them so that they are not worried and so they dont leave and get killed another way. Hands Hands One conflict that he deals with is him trying to get home on his journey. " Should destiny intend that he shall see his roof again among his family in his fatherland, far be that day and the dark years between" This shows Odysseus as being a heroic character because he is trying to et home under any circumstances

Now you can make any subject more engaging and memorable
