Alzheimer's disease is a progressive neurologic disease of the brain leading to the irreversible loss of neurons and the loss of many abilities, including memory and reasoning, which become severe enough to effect social functioning. Memory loss that affects daily life Challenges in problem-solving Confusion with the time or place Trouble under standing visual images New problems with words in speaking or writing Misplacing things and losing the ability to retrace things. Decreased or poor judgment Changes in mood Tourettes Syndrome The nervous system helps your own body function, from picking up a cup of juice to talking to one of your friends. This system control everthing you do. It tells the other organ systems in your body what to do! Parkinson's Disease Alzheimer's Disease Diseases Parkinson's disease is a disorder of the brain that leads to shaking (tremors) and difficulty with walking, movement, and coordination. Parkinson's disease most often develops after age 50. It is one of the most common nervous system disorders of the elderly. Sometimes Parkinson's disease occurs in younger adults. It affects both men and women Causes and Symtoms Blinking Constipation Difficulty swallowing Drooling Problems with balance and walking No expression in the face (like you are wearing a mask) Muscle aches and pains The symptoms of Parkinson's are: Most of these causes are inherited and may have history in their family with TS and in some cases that is not the cause. The Nervous Sytem The nervous system consists of the major organs : the brain, which is the main control center, the spinal cord, which sends out the messages from the brain to the rest of the body, and finally the spinal nerves, which help spread the messages of the brain to the body. Tourette syndrome affects the body's brain and nervous system by causing tics - repeated, uncontrollable movements or involuntary vocal sounds. Symtoms of the Disease some syntoms include: Simple tics, which are tics that don't happen often and are small. They usually don't have any verbal tics In complex tics, the tics are more extreme and happen often sometimes the tics are to hurt theselves.
