Transcript: Food Photography People as Food food IS art Art in Food Finally, the food itself can be the canvas to display the "art". It can be incorporated and molded to look like something other than food. It can be painted on, drawn on, and even cut to form amazing works of art. The best part about considering food as art is that it can be eaten after. Food is fully functional, fully applicable, fully works of art. Food can be used in photography, used in advertising, used to represent something more than itself, and also food can provide the perfect canvas open for interpretation. All one needs is a little creativity and an appetite. If food is not considered art, then I don't know what is! People With Food Just take a look at these photos and tell me that's not art! An artist painted people as the flag of their country along with them eating their national food. Even though the food is not the main focus of the photos it is still a very important part in the vision and message the artist is trying to portray. Another area in which food can be displayed as art is the area of modeling and commercial purpose. The most common place this art form arises is in the commercial business of fast food chains. The food may not be considered "art" because it is fast food but that is only because it does not recall necessarily pleasing aesthetic memories to the consumer. I consider it an art to manipulate the food in order for it to appear appetizing to the consumers. This is more a business art, but it still involves aesthetic qualities. In the opposite direction of fast food, gourmet chef's strive to display their artwork on the plates. Rather than just on advertisements. Chef's use their talent of both cooking and craftsmanship to display a appetizing and appeasing looking dish. Their is art involved in both processes. Making the food requires an art in the craft and it requires talent to display the dish in an aesthetically appealing manner. Food is clearly an art form. It is often the subject focus in photography. (as seen in pictures above) It takes proper skill and technique to craft and arrange the food to fit the artists vision. Not only is food in photography an art form, but it is a taste bud teaser. It can be appreciated for the aesthetic responses it brings to the viewer. It can also be appreciated for the taste it provides to the consumer! Gourmet Food
