Transcript: b y n z g m 1 p Fantasy Presentation Example 1 Harry Potter Novel Series A great example is the famous book series ‘Harry Potter' by J.K. Rowling. This book allows thousands of people around the world to enjoy the stories of the fantastical wizard world and gives them an escape. Stories like these are what many children call “home”. Reading fantasy stories is a more intellectual activity than being fixated on a device and in reality has great impacts on the minds of young children. A Gender Roles In Harry Potter there are multiple examples of breaking gender norms. Hermione is one of them, she is portrayed as a character who is both intelligent and fierce, in contrast to traditional female characters. Fantasy is changing and evolving, and more authors are challenging gender stereotypes. Through fantasy children are learning about equality. Gender Stereotypes B Mulan Example 2 Mulan is a popular Disney story that is beloved by many people all around the world. This plot incorporates various crucial aspects and principles that teach youngsters about global changes as well as different cultures. The story is set in China during the Han dynasty, and it tells the story of a young girl who fights in the war despite gender stereotypes and ideals. She protects her people by demonstrating strength and bravery while being true to herself. This well-loved tale instils in children perseverance, strength, bravery, and other valuable qualities. Mulan assists Disney in moving away from gender stereotypes as well as racial prejudice by balancing both tradition and change. These types of stories have influenced the way we learn and have made a noticeable difference in the world. Example 3 Barbie and Marvel C Barbie Barbie is a series of TV shows and movies that inspires children to explore their limitless potential and not be afraid of dreaming. It assists in building vital life skills for children but also enhances their creativity through a wide range of ideas/themes. For example, the famous movie Barbie: Fairytopia delivers a special concept that mainly states "What makes you different makes you special." Marvel Marvel is one of the top movie/show franchises in the world. It displays a range of powerful individuals that influence children to be the best versions of themselves and teaches them that anything is possible. Marvel's themes are often mistaken as too wild and harsh for children; age ratings are always provided which should be checked prior to watching. For example, the character Spider-man promotes kindness and creativity. Although these movies/shows are completely different in terms of main concepts and themes, they both successfully prove that fantasy is a vast genre and can create different links in between completely unalike media. D Example 4 Fairy Tales The Ugly Duckling The Three Little Pigs is a well-known story that is beloved by many youngsters all over the world. Three pigs build their own homes using their own methods in this narrative. The first two pigs do not work hard or put forth effort, resulting in a shabby and falling-apart house, whereas the last pig works hard and, in the end, constructs an exquisite home for himself. Due to the behavior of the first two pigs, they face the consequences of their actions. This story teaches us that it is important to work hard and and put in effort to achieve a certain goal. Little Red Riding Hood is a fairy tale about a young girl who goes into the woods to deliver a basket of things to her sick grandma. She detects a wolf following her on the way and is unsure what to do. Little Red Riding Hood arrives at her grandmother's house in the woods, unlocks the front door, and enters her grandmother's bedroom to see a wolf sleeping in her grandmother's bed, dressed in her grandmother's clothes. Although it is humorous, the narrative conveys numerous vital messages. This is a great story for kids to read because it educates them not to walk into the dark woods alone, but to always go with someone. The ugly duckling tells the story of a duck who was born different from the others around him. His family and friends called him ugly and made him feel insecure. Due to the words they would say to him, he experienced loneliness and despair, as well as a fear of the world. This was because he did not have his mother, brother, or sisters to assist him experience the world.
