University, Grants and Erasmus

Transcript: - In the UK, students must pay £9,000 per year in tuition fees. - However, this is payed for them as a loan by Student Finance (provided by the government). This is payed back later in life. - Student Finance also give a maintenance loan to students each term, which is used to cover things like rent, bills and food (and more often than not alcohol!). This amount depends on how much each student's parents earn. - It is free for Scottish people to go to University in Scotland. When do we apply for University in the UK? - Students who wish to study at Oxford or Cambridge must go for an interview beforehand. - These Universities only accept the very best students so they must determine whether each candidate has got what it takes in these interviews. Oxbridge Student Accommodation Being Accepted Into University University, Grants and Erasmus Erasmus - When students have been accepted into University, they must apply for accommodation. - Usually, in first year, students stay in Halls of Residence on the University's campus. - After the first year, students move into a house or flat in the town/city. - On 'results day' (the day we receive our A-level results) we find out whether our first choice University has accepted us. If they have - great! The student is able to relax and start thinking about accommodation etc. - If not, then students will either have an offer from their back-up or must go through clearing. - In clearing, students must phone up other Universities to see if they have places left on their course. Student Finance How do we apply for University? - Normally, people start looking at Universities and courses when they are in Year 12 of High School (Primero de Bachillerato) and decide which degree they want to study. - The next year, they have to choose five Universities they would like to apply for. - Students visit the Universities they are interested in on Open Days. - After we have chosen five Universities, we must write a personal statement about why we want to study this subject. We do this through a website called UCAS. - Our sixth form teachers also must write us a reference and submit our predicted grades. - If we receive an offer from all five Universities, then we must choose just two - our first choice and back-up Universities. - If you are lucky like me, you will get to spend a year abroad as part of your University studies. - As I am a language student, it was compulsory for me to spend a year in Spain (or Latin America). We had to choose whether to study or work as a teaching assistant. - I applied through the British Council, who allocated me a school in Extremadura. - Although I am not an Erasmus student, I still was able to receive an Erasmus grant.

For example, a before-and-after image can powerfully highlight the success of a project. Structuring Information Captivating Headlines Organizing content logically guides the audience through your presentation. Use bullet points for quick insights, and follow a clear progression from introduction to conclusion. This helps maintain audience focus and enhances retention. Headlines should grab attention and summarize key points. Using action verbs and clear language helps create intrigue. For instance, instead of "Company Performance," use "Driving Growth: Our 2023 Performance Highlights" to stimulate interest.
