By William Morrison and John Wharton creating a machine to easily and cheaply create Cotton Candy, it became more popular and it started making more profits. John Wharton William Morrison was an inventor, dentist, lawyer and author, from Nashville Tennessee. He was also a leader of civic and political affairs. William Morrison later became President of the Tennessee State Dental Association William Morrison William Morrison and John C. Wharton were both born and raised in Nashville Tennessee, where they created the legendary Fairy Floss. John C. Wharton lived between 1835-1915 and William Morrison lived between 1860-1926 John C. Wharton was also born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. He was an American confectioner and the co-inventor of cotton candy.
