Below will show a story about a man who was from a Sikh religion but almost drove himself to double suicide attempts when he was labeled as a 'terrorist' and 'suicide bomber' In the recruitment process in recent times lots of changes have been made to the recruitment of the people who work within the force, for example in the army they have started recruiting people who are from different ethical background. If you are a white, british male who is of a certain height then you wont be allowed into the force. The main people who are being recruited are: Women, asians, african, gay people and overall people who wouldn't be seen as a likely recruit for the army. Diversity within the forces Buddhist soldiers serve in both the regualar and reserve forces for the army. there are currently 800 buddhist serving in the regular armys. There are no special arrengments for buddhist soldiers but they still maintain there faith while fighting for our country. Religions in the army This image is proof that women can be just as strong as men in all aspects of life, mentally, physically and stable Recruitment Process So what did the British Army do to solve this? Overall there are 40,000 officers and 185,000 other ranks from all diffrent religions and backgrounds. However there were 550 muslims recruited in 2013 which makes the army a more diverce workforce. Having muslim recruits help people build up potential barriers through communication. There are 2600 hindus working in the army which again helps cultural diversity. Also there are 100 rastafarians in the army again making a more diverce workforce. P5/M3/D2 British Army In 1980 there were 17,100 officers and were 142,000 other ranks. This makes 159,100 all together. This shows that over the years the army has had a higher recruitment process and has gained more strength. Also our fighting force is getting stronger making us a better fighting force. Some stats from 1980 to now. Diversity within the forces What is diversity? Having a diverse work force means having lots of different cultures, races, backgrounds and personalities all under one family tree. The British army has recruits from many different backgrounds, for example jamaican, african, asian, Buddhist, Sikh and many more. This means that where ever the army is located they will always have a fighting force that can be situated for specific tasks, for example when fighting in african countries then it would help for someone who speaks that language to be positioned there and so on... Recruitment process Overall the army has an extremely diverse workforce with people who look up to each other as brothers and sisters on the field of work. After all who cares what race the man or woman is beside you? Its the fact that they are there with you; fighting, protecting and making sure that they have your back. When the goings get tough they are your brothers and sisters on that front line, the same people going through the same things as you, sitting in that same ditch with the same bullets flying over your head. So next time you come up with some racist joke or think it would be funny to tease someone about their ethnic background realize that one day when your hurt, lost or alone they could be the one who decides your fate. Thank you for listening... Real life stories Absolutely nothing. The man who is known by the name of Manjit Singh took these racism complaints to higher authority however when he was there they ignored his claims and submitted him to a psychiatric ward. The man is now facing deportation from the country as a breach in the British military. These are just a few claims that have happened in the army but overall the army regularly recruit many aspects of racial backgrounds and always intake lots of new recruits when they can. We shouldn't let the personalities of a select few represent the whole of the army in a general influence. The British Army is a proud force that welcomes all to its ranks and its rare that a story like this ever gets heard. Concentration is just as good as physical abilities... This means that the army has a more ethical workforce which is set in place to target potential barriers such as communication when in foreign
