Transcript: Many people get together and have a relaxed party or lunch. They usually eat the left overs from Christmas day. Baked ham and punch is very common to have. More traditions on Boxing Day More history on Boxing Day There is no actual reason why its called "Boxing Day". Known as Christmas 2 or second Christmas. Even though fox hunting may not seem like it has something to do with Boxing day, it does. People find fox hunting relaxing. History on Boxing Day All about Boxing Day Boxing Day was a day off for servants. Servants also, received a "Christmas box" from their master. Boxing day is on the 26th of December every year. Boxing day is usually celebrated in the United Kingdom, and Ireland. On December 26th there is a fox hunt. The hunters wear red, (usually) because its boxing day. Up until 2004 it was okay for you to use your dog in the hunt. Now the dogs have to sniff out an artificial trail because it was banned to have your dogs hunt the actual trails. In America we do "Black Friday" but where people celebrate Boxing day they do a lot of shopping. Many people say that shopping on Boxing day is very relaxing. Stores such as Macy's and Kohl's put everything on sale or layaway. Fox Hunting * Known as national "Candy Cane" day in the United States. * In Southern Africa its known as "Day of Goodwill". * In Ireland they call it "St. Stephens Day" Boxing day originated in Britain and Ireland. Many countries have adapted to this holiday. Some countries are Ireland,United Kingdom, Canada, Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Kenya, South Africa, Norway, Sweden, and Britain. The hounds chase the fox down and when they catch him / her they call a sighting in to the horsemen/women 5. Horsemen/women get to the fox & hounds location as fast as they can and catch the fox 6.
