Transcript: Agriculture The Agricultural Sciences Program is one of the fastest growing and largest divisions at the Blinn College. Enrollment in Blinn agriculture classes tops more than 700 students each semester, with more than 950 declared Ag majors in 2010. Blinn offers agriculture classes on all of its campuses (Brenham, Bryan, Schulenburg and Sealy), with the hub of the program located on the home campus in Brenham. Agriculture at Blinn is an academically-driven program providing accredited courses that either lead to an Associate Degree or can transfer to major universities. Blinn is an active member of the Agriculture Consortium of Texas and maintains very close associations with department heads and representatives from all Texas agriculture universities to assure a smooth transition for our students. The Division of Agriculture Sciences has one of the most active extra-curricular programs in the state. Blinn offers educational activities in the areas of livestock judging, Blinn Agriculture Club, wildlife, agriculture mechanics, horticulture, and agriculture sciences. Legal Assistant Program A Legal Assistant (Paralegal) performs legal research, assists in gathering facts, prepares documents, and does general administrative work at the direction and under the supervision of a lawyer. The skills of the Legal Assistant are such that the work performed would otherwise have to be accomplished by a licensed attorney. Graduates of this Program are prepared to assist attorneys in the delivery of legal services, and employment positions may be found in private law firms, courts, corporations and businesses, insurance companies, governmental offices, administrative offices, and banks-trust departments. Applied Business Program Blinn College’s Applied Business Program provides a supportive learning environment through in-depth instruction and an innovative use of classroom technology. The curriculum prepares students for various careers in accounting, business, and management with an applied and practical approach. Every business, organization, and group needs effective leaders to plan, organize, lead, and control the many activities that affect business today. The Business Administration and Management degree provides student with the latest management techniques and skills. It is designed for students seeking first-line management positions as well as those students looking to update their talents. The Small Business Management awards provide students an in-depth understanding of how to start and operate a small business. Students will learn to prepare a business plan, raise capital, accounting strategies, cash flow requirement, human resources, and marketing. Graduates will be well qualified for career opportunities in entrepreneurship, management, and related fields. Accounting is the language of business. It translates and communicates the movement of resources throughout business systems. Accounting measures the performance and status of the organization by analyzing, classifying, recording, reporting and interpreting each transaction using acceptable accounting practices and procedures. Without accurate and timely accounting, management of the organization is virtually impossible. Hospitality Management offers students a basic background in hotel, restaurant, and event operations which are fundamental to all aspects of the hospitality industry. 902 College Avenue, Brenham, Texas 77833 Basic Information Athletics Blinn College tuition is $2,208 per year for in-state residents. This is 32% cheaper than the national average public two year tuition of $3,263. The cost is $3,589 and 62% cheaper than the average Texas tuition of $5,797 for 2 year colleges. Tuition ranks 25th in Texas amongst 2 year colleges for affordability and is the 64th most expensive 2 year college in the state. If attending from out-of-state, the tuition is $4,008 which represents a 82% premium. Student Activities Tuition Becoming a Student: Freshman Majors: General Information Majors The Blinn College Buccaneer Band offers students an excellent opportunity to use their musical talents and, at the same time, enjoy the rewarding experience of being in a group of people with like interests. Music majors and non-music majors alike participate in the marching band and concert bands. Of the 125 Blinn Band members, approximately 30 percent are actual music majors. Fifty to sixty high schools ranging from Class 1A to Class 5A are represented in the Buccaneer Band. Meal Plans Majors(cont.)
