Transcript: First practice rolling your film onto a wheel with your eyes open. Then with your eyes closed. Then go into the closet to roll it in the dark. Work with your partner to complete this. Do not bring your cell phone into the closet. Any light at all will ruin your film. Shoot a roll of film Work with a partner to shoot a roll of film during class time. Share the camera with your partner to shoot all 24 pictures. You take 12 and your partner takes 12. Do not bring your cell phone into the darkroom. The room is light with red lights because the photo paper is not sensitive to that wave length. But your cell phone screen glows. You could ruin your print or your neighbors unintentionally. When are you finished? Making Prints in the Darkroom We have mostly 5x7 glossy paper. But we do have some 8x10 glossy and a very small amount of 11x14 fiber paper. Your first prints will be on the the 5x7 glossy. What not to photograph! Portraits of a person using natural light in the lobby Find examples of texture, line, shape, asymmetrical balance, etc. Make a photographic study of an art classroom with paint and brushes, desks and chairs, etc. Remember birds eye & worms eye Remember Rule of Thirds Remember how to "fill the frame" water fountains exit signs trash cans bathroom signs paintings on the wall lockers anything boring What to photograph? The Darkroom is Actually Red Develop Your Film Roll and Develop your Film! When you have shown Mrs. Bowen your 2 quality 5x7 photos you should hang them on the wall. You can take them home after I see them all. Finally, complete your Photographer Prezi and share it with me. What size print? Develop your film at the sink. Make sure to read through all the directions on the wall first before starting. The time and temperature for the developing chemical are very important. The other chemicals the time and temp are less important. Hang to dry in the green cabinet This is a many step process and requires a lot of focus and problem solving. In the darkroom you will make at least 2 GOOD prints. Each person must do this. There are 6 enlargers in the darkroom and there is 1 person per enlarger. But you can all work to support each other while you're in there. Black and White Photography
