Big Bazaar

Transcript: Big Bazaar is the largest hypermarket chain in India. It is a public company which focuses on retailing. It was founded by Kishore Biyani in 2001. It’s parent firm is Future Group. It’s headquarters are situated in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. This is a line of business diversified into various areas like Fashion, Food, General Merchandise, Furnishing, Luggage, Electronics etc. Big Bazaar won the sixth place in world’s top 15 service brands and has been one of the most successful business firms of India with 214 outlets in all. The concept of 'Maha Bachat' (Mega Saving) was introduced in the year 2006 as a single day campaign with promotional offers across the company outlets. Over the years, the concept has grown to become a six-day biannual campaign. During the campaign, offers are given in all the value formats including Big Bazaar, Food Bazaar, Electronic Bazaar and Furniture Bazaar. Some of the Maha Bachat offers • Mens, Ladies & Kids apparel - Buy 1 Get 1 Free • 31pc Opalware dinner set Rs.1,650 Just for Rs. 799/ • Purchase Gold and get equal quantity of Silver Free Koryo 21 Pure Flat CTV For Rs 4990 • Staples combo (10 Kg Atta + 5 Kg Sugar + 5 Kg Rice) Just for Rs 444 • 40% off on Skybags Knight range of trolleys • Ladies & Gents Fashion Watches Rs 249 • Branded sports shoes Rs. 800/- Wednesday Bazaar The concept of Wednesday Bazaar was promoted as 'Hafte Ka Sabse Sasta Din' (Cheapest Day of the Week). Initiated in January 2007, the idea behind this scheme was to draw customers to stores on Wednesdays, the day when consumer presence is usually less. The aim, according to the chain, is "to give home makers the power to save the most and even the stores in the city don a fresh look to make customers feel that it is their day". Maha Bachat Payback cards Strategy of the company Environmental studies Schemes and Innovations Big Bazaar does not produce but sources from outside. As mentioned earlier, it is in retail business. Other than designing and manufacturing of clothes at FBB, Big Bazaar produces nothing but buys from other companies. Every item of every brand, known or unknown is available there. By known companies, we mean the ones of which we have very well heard and are heavily promoted and advertised. And by the unknown companies, we mean small companies which do not advertise and very few have heard of them but they exist, and Big Bazaar helps them to exist by providing them a platform, a market to sell their products in. Big Bazaar Kishore Biyani is an Indian businessman. He is chief executive officer (CEO) of Future Group. Biyani raised $170 million by taking venture capital arm Future Ventures public in March 2011. Biyani is married to Sangita Biyani and they have 2 children and are based in Mumbai. His elder daughter Ashni is a director of Future Ideas, group's innovation and incubation cell. Kishore is the co-author, with Dipayan Baishya, of the book It happened in India: the Story of Pantaloons, Big Bazaar, Central and the Great Indian Consumer. The book has sold some 100,000 copies, more than any other business book published in India so far. About the founder About Big Bazaar Big Bazaar directly negotiates with other brands and vendors and places orders for bulk. This bulk buying creates a big margin which instead of going in the company’s pockets as extra profit, goes to the consumer’s pocket as savings. 3-C theory According to Kishore Biyani's 3-C theory, Change and Confidence among the population is leading to rise in Consumption, through better employment and income. Big Bazaar has divided India into three segments: • India one: The Consuming class which includes upper middle and lower middle class (14% of India's population). • India two: The Serving class which includes people like drivers, household helps, office persons, liftmen, and washermen (55% of India's population) and • India three: The Struggling class (31% of India's population). The Great Exchange Offer New logo promotion Big Bazaar had launched a promotion drive covering the three prime media, television, print and social media, to mark the launch of the new logo. The media campaign was developed by Mudra Communications. Fashion Big Bazaar (FBB) FBB is a new line started by Big Bazaar. Future Group used to sell fashion through Pantaloons but now it has separated. Now that Future Group Holds only 24% shares of Pantaloons, FBB is their main focus. To promote FBB, Femina Miss India has been started. Presented by: Ananna Chatterjee Animesh Kumar Singh Ishita Verma Pallavi Rajput Parkhy Brahma This is quite a new concept introduced by Big Bazaar. A consumer earns some points on every shopping and these points are added in the card. Later on, when they collect certain amount of points then they get some discount on their next shopping. This is actually a very good way to find out who are the loyal customers. As of now, employees of Big Bazaar claim that they have more than 10 lacs of loyal customers (those who have pay back
