Transcript: 1 Kings 1 Adonijah was a very greedy man. He wanted to become king after David so he went behind his father David's back and got lots of people to believe him that he was going to be king next. He sacrificed sheep, cattle, and fattened calves to "prove" that he was really going to be the next king. Adonijah invited all his brothers, the king’s sons, and all the royal officials of Judah, but he didn't invite Nathan the prophet or Benaiah or the special guard or his brother Solomon... So Bathsheba and Nathan too went to David and asked him if he knew about Adonijah's evil little plan. Turns out David had no idea what was going on. So David told Bathsheba that their son SOLOMON shall be king after David. Then he got Zadok the priest and Nathan the prophet to go and anoint Solomon king over Israel and to blow the trumpets and shout, 'Long live King Solomon!' After hearing all of this, Adonijah was in alarm of course. He was scared of Solomon though, so he went and took hold of the horns of the altar and said for Solomon not to kill him. Solomon agreed that Adonijah stay alive as long as he doesn't show evil in himself. 1 Kings 1:52 Solomon replied, "If he shows himself to be worthy, not a hair of his head will fall to the ground; but if evil is found in him, he will die." In this verse Solomon is sparing Adonijah's life if he promises to live his life without evil showing in him. This verse can be applied to our lives today. God calls us to live our lives without evil. If one has evil in there life, and they don't ever except Christ, the harsh truth is that they will "die" or go to hell. David...David...David...
