He graduaded in Harvard university and he did research and taught there until 1928. He was inspired by Ansel Adams. In 1940, he began to specialize in colours, and he became more popular by the day. He was one of the first photographer that works with colour. Eliot Porter ceased to be the most agile pioneer of color photography, he also affirmed how artworks should help build and inform the American environmental movement. How was Eliot Porter inspired by nature? How he was inspired by nature As a kid, he watched birds flying and he found it very beautiful, as well as different landscapes. He wanted to show the world this beauty too and started taking photographs of landscapes and birds. This is where his passion really started. He wanted to show the beauty of nature by taking pictures of nature working with many colours. How he made his photographs How he took his photographs When he was a teenager, he used a black-white camera. In 1940 he started color photographing, and he used the Porter used a medium format view camera designed to hold 4 x 5 inch sheets of film. It took him several hours to compose the seven. He photographed color by using the dye transfer process. This process is a compex and labor-intensive color print process which makes sure there is a precise control over image color Pictures Pictures The Sources Sources “Eliot Porter's Photographic File Building, Tesuque N. What I want to create My discipline: Photography My work I want to photograph different landscapes and work with many different colors to show people the beauty of nature with the goal that people are going to see the beauty of nature and realize we shouldn't destroy it. I am going to take photographs of the Dessert, the Sea and the Forest. I will take the photographs with the GOPRO, which is also a good for taking a underwater camera of the sea. I want to show people these landscapes on different ways. I am going to make a collage in which I use distant and close up photography. What am I going to take from this inspiration source for my work? His use of colors really inspired to do this as well. He also photographed close up but also landscapes photo, and this inspired me to try make these 2 types of photographs. I also discovered that thinking about your use of color and light is very important to take a good photograph, because Eliot porter thought about this a lot and his photos are very famous around the whole world. Artwork 1 Artwork 1 Pool in a Brook- Eliot porter Context at the point of creation Context at the point of creation The photo is taken by Eliot porter in 1953. It was autunm when the photo was taken. The photo is taken in New Hampshire. As you can see in the photograph it took place in a pond brook. In this time, color photography became more and more popular. It was a time full of civil wars, but this didn't have an impact on this photograph. Also, climate change wasn't really a big topic in this time, so this also didn't influence this picture.
