Transcript: Controlling Exposure Shutter Speed The Aperture The Shutter The shutter blocks out all light into the camera until you depress the shutter release. At that point, it briefly opens and closes allowing a brief amount of light into the camera. You can control the amount by adjusting the shutter speed. Aperture Settings (F – stops) Shutter Speed Shutter speed viewed on screen Balance Exposure (F stop) shown on screen Exposure is about different combinations of shutter and F-stop settings. These combinations can dramatically affect the quality of the finished picture. Give a stop – take a stop Balance is easy because both are measured in stops, so if you take a stop from aperture, you give a stop to shutter speed and end up with the same exposure Smaller aperture numbers – larger openings Larger aperture numbers – smaller openings In order for an image to be captured it must be exposed to light. The camera has two settings which control light, these replicate the human eye. The shutter and the aperture. Nikon D200 A 1/1000th second exposure is THREE STOPS darker than a 1/125th second exposure Every stop on this table represents a ONE STOP change. Like a pupil in the human eye, the aperture controls the amount of light entering. It does this by closing up to restrict light, and opening up to let it through. Balance Balance Before the light reaches the Charge Coupled Device (CCD which replaces traditional film), it must pass through an opening called the aperture. The aperture is like your pupil. You control the aperture by setting the ‘aperture opening’ also known as an ‘F-stop’. Shutter Speed At 1/250th second, the shutter is fast enough to freeze motion. At f2.8 enough light enters the camera to obtain correct exposure, at the expense of the background. Controlling Exposure Controlling Exposure Balance Shutter Speed Questions? Aperture Settings (F stops) So, if the aperture is small such as f22, then objects in the background and foreground appear sharper. However, since more light was required a shutter speed of ¼ second the subjects become blurred from motion. Larger openings – more light Smaller openings – less light Why is the background blurred in the right picture? Because exposure of f2.8 makes objects further away out of focus – this is known as depth of field. Moving from f16 to f8 is TWO STOPS brighter. Moving from f5.6 to f8 is ONE STOP darker Moving from f4 to f2.8 is ONE STOP brighter Every step in the table = ONE STOP So, what do we learn?? Sometimes it is impossible to obtain exactly the picture that you want. How do we deal with that? Compromise – if the photo is for an ident, then the last picture will do, we’re not that interested in the background. If we are, we can take a shot of the background as well. Longer shutter speeds – more light Slower shutter speeds – less light Camera Work The Aperture The following pictures have been given an equal amount of light, but the F-stop and shutter combinations make each one unique. The Aperture (F Stop) A ½ second exposure is ONE STOP darker than a 1 second exposure. A 1/125th second exposure is TWO STOPS brighter than a 1/500th second exposure Longer exposures (like 1 second) give much more light to the CCD than 1/1000th of a second exposure. The number may look bigger, don’t be deceived – we’re into fractions. Balancing Shutter and Aperture

Great with students, workers, family, etc. For example: With games like Jeopardy and Family Feud, players can pick practically any answers. The person who is running the game will have to have all of the answers in order to determine if players are correct or not. However, with a game like Who Wants to be a Millionaire, the players only have a choice between answers, A, B, C, or D. Therefore, when the player decides their answer, the person running the game clicks it, and the game will tell them whether they are right or wrong.

Transcript: Conservation of fishing cat Introduction of fishing cat Health: Fishing cats are susceptible to carnivore protoparvovirus, a disease known to kill them. This disease significantly damages the kidney, spleen and gastrointestinal tract of the body. The fishing cat is also vulnerable to diseases and medical conditions such as feline hemoplasmas, transitional cell carcinoma and canine distemper virus. Conservation Threats Wild life Shamim khan 2225138043 Bs Zoology 2022-2026 Since 2016, the fishing cat is listed as a vulnerable species on the IUCN Red List, as the global population is thought to have declined by around 30% in the years 2010–2015; the destruction of wetlands and killings by local people are major threats to the fishing cat.[1] The destruction of wetlands includes increased pollution or conversion for agricultural use and human settlements. The conversion of mangrove forests to commercial aquaculture ponds is a major threat in Andhra Pradesh, and in some places fishing cats are killed. Over-exploitation of local fish stocks and retaliatory killing by local people are also significant threats. The fishing cat is included on CITES Appendix II and protected by national legislation over most of its range. Hunting is prohibited in Bangladesh, China, India, Indonesia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand. Hunting regulations apply in Laos. In Bhutan, Malaysia, and Vietnam, it is not protected outside protected areas, and no information is known about its legal protections in Cambodia. It is the state animal of the Indian state of West Bengal. Its survival depends on protection of wetlands, prevention of indiscriminate trapping, snaring and poisoning. fishing cat The fishing cat (Prionailurus viverrinus) is a medium-sized wild cat of South and Southeast Asia. It has a deep yellowish-grey fur with black lines and spots. Adults have a head-to-body length of 57 to 78 cm (22 to 31 in), with a 20 to 30 cm (8 to 12 in) long tail. Males are larger than females classification of fishing cat: Scientific classification Domain: Eukaryota Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Mammalia Order: Carnivora Suborder: Feliformia Family: Felidae Subfamily: Felinae Genus: Prionailurus Species: P. viverrinus Characteristics: The fishing cat has a deep yellowish-grey fur with black lines and spots. Two stripes are on the cheeks, and two are above the eyes running to the neck with broken lines on the forehead. It has two rows of spots around the throat. The spots on the shoulder are longitudinal, and those on the sides, limbs and tail are roundish Endangered in Pakistan: In captivity: Fishing cat captive breeding programmes have been established by the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria and the American Association of Zoos and Aquariums. All the fishing cats kept in zoos around the world are listed in the International Studbook of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums.Zoos in Thailand house around 30 individuals; birth rates are not particularly high. They have been placed in captivity as an "insurance population" due to their vulnerable status in the wild Taxonomy Topic: fishing cat Submitted to: Dr Najiya Al-Arifa Behaviour and ecology Phylogeny: Distribution and habitat: The fishing cat lives among dense vegetation near water and is thought to be primarily nocturnal. It is known to be a proficient long-distance and underwater swimmer. Adult males and females without dependent young are solitary. Females have been reported to range over areas of 4 to 6 km2 (1.5 to 2.3 sq mi), while males range over 16 to 22 km2 (6.2 to 8.5 sq mi). It has been observed resting in thick grassy habitats, often near a water body but sometimes far away from them. Adults have been recorded to vocalise "chuckling" sounds The fishing cat is broadly but discontinuously distributed in South and Southeast Asia. It predominantly inhabits densely vegetated wetlands around slow-moving bodies of water like swamps and marshes. These include low-salinity bodies such as oxbow lakes, and high-salinity ones such as tidal creeks and mangrove forests. Along these bodies of water, it conceals itself within the thick cover of forests, scrublands, reed beds, and grasslands. Most records are from lowland areas. Reproduction and development: Wild fishing cats most likely mate during January and February; most kittens in the wild were observed in March and April. However, fishing cats may mate as late as June. In captivity, the gestation period lasts 63–70 days; females give birth to an average of two to three kittens; the litter size can be as small as one to as large as four.

Transcript: Conestoga Students Inc. is the student association that represents 9500+ full time students. We provide services, representation and activities for our students. As the CSI President it is my job to ensure that every single one of our students on all of Conestoga’s Campuses is represented. CSI has dedicated these past two years to creating a community throughout the college. College is the most important time in a person’s life, it is a place where you go to learn, grow and start your future. I am so proud to be part of an organization that truly stands for students, their rights, their experiences, and their growth. Creating a community is not just about joining all of the campuses together; it is about the mindset that when a student hears Conestoga they automatically think “I am Conestoga”. This has been our goal since I have been in this role, to start hearing students talk proudly about their college and know they are walking the halls of one of the best in the Country. I have been lucky to be placed in this role as President and I look forward to finishing my term this year strong and leaving knowing that each student thinks only good things when they think about Conestoga and I will know CSI was a big part in that. Professor Heather Wright Communication 1500 Good Afternoon, CSI’s Plan for Christmas Holidays: We are holding the Christmas wish tree campaign again, where students can sign up their children to receive gifts from sponsors. The sponsors are other students who come in and pick a child and ourchase gifts for them. For other activities you will have to contact becky saba at rsaba@conestogac.on.ca Who Inspired me to run for CSI: This started in my first year of college I was with a friend in my program and she said she was going to run for a director position. I wanted to get involved and I thought CSI would be the best way possible. From there I started to understand how important CSI is to the student experience and this passion of student leadership and advocacy started to grow in me. I ran for president because I wanted to make change fro the students, I wanted to serve them and work hard at giving them what they wanted. I am a firm believer in students making their own future and this position allows me to help those students who want to, to make a change in their college community How to take over for my position: Any student can run to be president of CSI, this is done through an interview process in front of the board of directors. The candidate would fill out a nomination package, the CRO would then make sure they meet the eligibility criteria and then they would present a plan/speech in front of the board and go through an extensive question process. All students are members of CSI currently, all full time students can take advantage of the services we provide. In order to run, I always encourage all students who feel that they want to make a difference for the college and our students to put their name in the hat. Anyone can do this job, it is a great learning experience for whatever program you are in that’s the beauty of it. As long as you are passionate, and here for the students you are a perfect fit to take over this -Ciara Byrne
