Transcript: Animal Abuse Victoria Reynolds and Rebecca Cherian Animal Cruelty Problem! Animal hording and animal abuse are growing problems in the United States. The law doesn't require officials to press charges against animal abusers and this often results in the animal staying under the abusers care. However, efforts to improve this problem are starting to come about because research has shown connections between animal abuse, domestic violence, and child abuse. In 88% of the houses that had child abuse in them, researchers often found that the pets were mistreated, as well. Now in the United States, all states but four have enforced laws against animal cruelty. Video Examples There are two types of cruelty: Passive and Active Passive cruelty is when an owner neglects the animal and causes pain and suffering to the animal An active cruelty is when the owner is violent and causes harm to the animal Examples for passive are neglect, starvation, dehydration and parasite infections in the skin. An example for active is punching, kicking, throwing the animal into something Competition solutions If we spread the news about abused animals and their owners abusing them, we could stop animal abuse and animals will live longer and be more peaceful. Stop Animal Cruelty by; NateriversGf Living a life full of fear, a life of cruelty. The animals that suffer, have no voice to tell you. They are beaten, have to fight for food, or die for their fur. They are being abused, in on of the many cruel and disrespectful ways of animal cruelty. The animals suffer, more then the eye can see. Look into their eyes, and see the pain inside. Some people are blind, to blind to see they need help. Animals are in need of those that believe in them. people who give them good homes, and protect them for as long as they live. Humans are not my friends by: Victoria Reynolds and rebecca Cherian Master, why are you hurting me? What did I do? I know we don’t have the same thought process But I’m sure I don’t deserve the things that you do. Oscar, you are the only thing I can hurt in my life You serve as an example to my wife If she doesn’t listen to me, I’ll show her what I’d do to destroy her life By doing these things to you, my wife will do what I desire But master I’ve done you no wrong I jump around and sing you songs I play with the kids and sit by your feet Why won’t you give me anything to eat? Oscar, you ungrateful thing I’ve treated you well since the day we got you At age three Since you want to be against me, you can sleep in the street I’ve been hurt beyond all recognition My kind is supposed to be the best in man’s attention But I’ll be the exception Being friends with a human will be the last thing I’ll bring to conception Bib. Transcript: Deona Hall To Me ,PETA is the best animal rights organization regarding animals rights because they offer diffrent campaigns like "Ink,Not Mink" and also "McCreulty ,Im HATING It" to persuade the human race to stop animal cruelty People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is the largest animal rights organization in the world, with more than 3 million members and supporters. PETA focuses its attention on the four areas in which the largest numbers of animals suffer the most intensely for the longest periods of time: on factory farms, in the clothing trade, in laboratories, and in the entertainment industry. We also work on a variety of other issues, including the cruel killing of beavers, birds, and other "pests" as well as cruelty to domesticated animals. The spokesmodels have come from the world of sports, movies, television, rock music and even the tattoo community itself What PETA Means to me Unfortunately, there is no quick fix for animal abuse, but there are so many things we can all do to help. None of them will make animal abuse disappear tomorrow, but every little bit helps lower the risk further down the road. And you don't have to be an animal "fanatic" to do it. You don't have to be a member of every animal rights organization on earth. There are so many things "regular"people can to do to have an imp How Can We as Humans Stop Animal Abuse ? Animal cruelty encompasses a range of behaviors harmful to animals, from neglect to malicious killing. Most cruelty investigated by humane officers is unintentional neglect that can be resolved through education. Intentional cruelty, or abuse, is knowingly depriving an animal of food, water, shelter, socialization, or veterinary care or maliciously torturing, maiming, mutilating, or killing an animal. A Little Bit Of Pathos For You . . . Animal Cruelty Mr. Kautzer Period 1A Peta's "Ink, Not Mink" Campaigne... Part of the larger "Fur is Dead" campaign, this series of images and advertisements features tattooed celebrities posing in their skin art to promote anti-fur awareness. Why Animal Cruelty In America Should Be Stopped . . What Is PETA ? Why do people abuse animals? The motives and causes behind animal cruelty are complex and varied. Here are some common reasons why people commit such shameful acts: • Emotional & communication barriers between humans and animals • Ignorance • Personal gain & pleasure • Believing abuse is justified • Lack of empathy • Animals suffer in silence • They are defenseless, making an easy target • Little or no consequences for perpetrators • Traditions, customs or rituals • Desire to assert power or authority What Is Animal Cruelty? MY opinion about animal crulty is that it is the worst thing ever to happen. The people who do this crime have no life and no soul .I just want to ask them why would they do it. Do they ever think of the animals soul or what they feel.Do they know that animals can feel pain, anger and sadness. well after showing you those pictures now do u see what happens to farm animals i hope by showing you these pictures i have confinced u to try a veggaterean or try to eat less meat (oh yeah the guy in the last picture don't worry about him i took care of him) the topic i chose was animal welcome to my project I would like to ask my fellow classmates this question. How many times a day do you see a cermercal or an add about bulling. now compare that to how many times you see animal currltey adds not alote right. I know it sounds like a im trying to be bad or something like that but think about humman beings . We think that we are the only ones on the plantet and when something bad happens we all drop our stff and make a realy big deal aboout it.Sometimes its a good thing but we forget about other proplems like wars that break out and animal curety. Transcript: Animal Cruelty Keirstin Bodfish English IV A 16 week old black lab puppy was tortured and left for dead in a diaper box at a gas station. A man stopped to put air in his tire and saw the box and heard a whimper. He opened the box and found the puppy with PVC glue in his eyes, nose, ears and throat. His back legs had multiple fractures. The man took the puppy to the vet where he had to be euthanized due to his injuries Reasons Why People Abuse Animals * animal is used as a bargaining tool in a household * unintentional abuse: owner does not care enough or cares too much and hoards the animals which causes some animals to not get enough care Two Types of Animal Abuse 1. Passive Cruelty: act upon the animal without any physical affiliation towards the animal, yet the subject of the abuse is denied its needs to survive adequately 2. Active Cruelty: Intentionally causing physical pain towards an animal of any kind Humane Ways Humane Slaughter Act(1958): covers the rights of animals in carnivals, zoos, & circuses; protects livestock from being slaughter inhumanely; animals being used in a lab had to be housed humanely and given pain medication appropriately Animal Welfare Act(1966): regulates the treatment of animals in research, exhibition, transport, and by dealers My Mentor :) Goldie Dunn I met my mentor in my biology class that I took for dual enrollment. She works at the Equine Country and has rescued an abused animal herself. She inspired me to create the adoption booklet for my product. My product is a collection of pictures of animals from a local shelter that are in need of being adopted. I created an adoption booklet that will help animals featured in the book get adopted. I spent six hours working on my product; Taking the pictures i needed, going out and buying the material, piecing everything together, printing, cutting, and pasting the pictures into the booklet Resources * Onslow County Animal Shelter * Camera * Glue * Binder * Sheet Protectors * Walmart Value to Society My adoption booklet will help people looking for a pet find one easily by browsing through the book at the front office at the local shelter The booklet creates an organized way to search through the animals at the shelter without causing a commotion by going back to the kennels My research is about animals in need of being saved and why people abuse animals There are many causes to animal cruelty but only one result, a poor helpess animal gets hurt physically and emotionally I believe my product is only a small gesture towards what can be done to help animals who have been done wrong, get a great home My booklet was created to give animals a second chance Personal Gain :) I feel accomplished about doing my project on an issue that occurs everyday I believe the process of the graduation project has given me the experience I need to pursue college and be able to handle the many other obstacles that life throws at me More than half of the people that commit crimes dealing with animal cruelty go uncharged, and the lives they have taken or harmed are taken without any justice being served I believe the more people that care and stand up for the animals without a voice, then we can help save the abused and abandoned After High school I am going to go to college to become a veterinarian I love animals and I plan on using the knowledge I obtain to help and heal the sick animals

Now you can make any subject more engaging and memorable
